2.5.2025

Annwyl Riant / Warcheidwad,

Diwrnod VE

Ar Fai yr 8ed byddwn yn dathlu diwrnod VE yn yr ysgol. Byddwn yn cynnal parti stryd i’r disgyblion. Gofynnwn i rieni ddanfon bechdan a chacen fach i’r ysgol gyda’i plentyn os gwelwch yn dda.

Presenoldeb

Hoffwn atgoffa teuluoedd am bresenoldeb da. Er bod y tywydd yn braf, mae hi’n bwysig na fydd disgyblion yn colli prynhawniau Gwener i fynd i ffwrdd am y penwythnos.

Yn ystod yr wythnos nesaf byddwn yn danfon llythyron presenoldeb adref i ddisgyblion a phresenoldeb o llai na 90%.

Bryn Onnen yn 30

Mae Ysgol Bryn Onnen yn 30 eleni! Byddwn yn cynnal digwyddiad arbennig i ddathlu ar Orffennaf 10ed.

Hoffem weld cymaint o gyn rieni a chyn ddisgyblion yn ogystal a theuluoedd presenol yn dod i'r digwyddiad.

Byddwn yn dechrau gyda pharti i’r disgyblion yn y prynhawn ac estynwn wahoddiad i rieni ddod i wylio y disgyblion yn perfformio rhwng 3 a 5 30.

Rydym yn enwedig yn edrych ymlaen at glywed gan unrhyw ddisgyblion oedd yn yr ysgol ym 1995.

VE Day

On May the 8th we will be celebrating VE Day in school. We will be having a street party event for pupils. For the party we are asking can every family please send in a sandwich and small cupcake with their child(ren). We will also be joined by members of the Blaenafon British Legion and Blaenafon Intergenerational Group.

Children will take part in activities during the day to learn about and celebrate VE day.

Pupils should wear school uniform on the day.

Attendance

Please remember the importance of good attendance. Even though the weather is nice we still expect pupils to be in school until the end of the day on Friday.

We are only able to authorise term time holidays under extraordinary circumstances.

We will also be sending Strive for 95 letters home with pupils who have low attendance next week. If you receive a letter, please consider how much time your child is missing off school and the impact this has on their education.

90% attendance = 4 weeks off school every year

85% attendance = 6 weeks off school every year – half a term

80% attendance = 1 day off school every week

Ysgol Bryn Onnen 30th Birthday Party

Ysgol Bryn Onnen is 30 years old this year. To mark this fantastic event, we will be having a special birthday party.

We will be holding the party on Thursday, July 10th.

The celebrations will start with a party for pupils in the afternoon. Then we would like to invite families to join us from 3 00 – 5 30 for a special celebration where pupils will perform and display art work.

We would like to reach out to as many past pupils of Ysgol Bryn Onnen as possible. If you are one, or are in touch with any, please share information about our celebration on social media.

We are particularly interested in getting in touch with any of the pupils who attended the school in 1995.

If you have any photos form the 30 years of Ysgol Bryn Onnen we would like you to share them with us either through Facebook or email so that we can create a small exhibition.

Mrs Wendy Nutt

As a school we were all very sad to learn this week about the death of Mrs Wendy Nutt following an illness. Mrs Nutt worked at Ysgol Bryn Onnen for nearly 20 years and we will all miss her Our thoughts are with Wendy’s family at this difficult time.
