Fel y gwyddoch dydy’r AALl ddim yn caniatau tynnu plant allan o’r ysgol yn ystod y tymot ar gyfer gwyliau. Nid ein rheol ni fel ysgol ydy hon ond rydym yn glwm iddi ta beth. Yr wyf wedi bod yn hynod o hael yn ystod y misoedd diwethaf o gymharu a phenaethiaid eraill a wedi caniatau i blant fynd ar eu gwyliau yn ystod y tymor. Yn fy marn i dylai’r AALl gyflwyno rheol ar ddechrau’r flwyddyn a nid traean o’r ffordd drwyddi. Ni fyddaf yn caniatau unrhyw wyliau yn ystod y tymor o fis Medi ymlaen oni bai fod yr amgylchiadau yn eithriadol. Deallaf y ddadl o safbwynt costau gwyliau ac ymddiheuraf am achosi unryw drafferth. Credaf y bydd y rhan fwyaf o rieni’r ysgol yn gefnogol iawn i’r uchod.

 

As you know, the LEA no longer sanction parents taking their children out of school during term time. Whether people agree with this or not it is a ruling that schools have to adhere to. I have been very gracious compared to all other heads in the authority this year by allowing most parents that have asked for holidays during term time to have this privilege. I personally didn't think it correct for the LEA to bring such a ruling into force about a third of the way into the academic year and expect it to implemented at the drop of a hat, hence I have authorised time off for holidays during term time. However, come September 2012 I will not be in a position to authorise any form of holiday whatsoever (be it for a fortnight or a Friday afternoon to compensate for weekend travel) unless there are exceptionally mitigating circumstances as outlined in the LEAs original letter to parents. I realise that this may cause offence and there is the argument of lower holiday costs during term time. I completely sympathise with this but have to abide by this ruling. I apologise for this and know that most parents would be supportive of this.
