Blwyddyn Newydd Dda,
Gobeithio i bawb gael gwyliau braf a hamddenol.
Mae deuddydd cyntaf y tymor nawr yn ddyddiau paratoi gyda disgyblion yn dychwelyd i’r ysgol ar ddydd Iau, Ionawr 6ed. Oherwydd y disgwyl y bydd nifer fawr o achosion o Covid-19 ym mis Ionawr mae Llywodraeth Cymru wedi gofyn i ysgolion baratoi ar gyfer Lefel Uchel Iawn o’r Canllawiau Gweithredu. I y mwyafrif o ddisgyblion bydd hyn yn debyg i eu profiadau ym mis Chwferor a Mawrth llynedd.
Byddwn yn dychwelyd i’r drefn o gadw plant mewn swigod er mwyn lleihau ar y cysylltiadau rhwng unigolion. Ar hyn o bryd does dim achosion o Covid-19 ymysg staff felly bydd pawb gyda’i hathrawon arferol ar ddechrau y tymor.
Er hynny mae’n siwr bydd angen i rai staff a disgyblion hunan-ynysu yn ystod y tymor felly bydd angen hyblygrwydd er mwyn sicrhau y gallwn gadw pob dosbarth ar agor.
Byddwn yn rhannu amser cinio er mwyn lleihau nifer y disgyblion sydd yn cymysgu yn y neuadd. Ni fydd modd rhoi amser penodol i bob blwyddyn yn unigol yn y neuadd ginio. Byddwn yn rhannu y neuadd yn ardaloedd gyda o leiaf 2m rhwng pob grwp.
Bydd Clwb Brecwast yn mynd ymlaen fel arfer. Bydd blynyddoedd gwahanol yn eistedd ar wahanol fyrddau yn y neuadd.
Gofynwn i rieni ddod a’u plant at ddrws y neuadd ginio ar gyfer Clwb Brecwast os gwelwch yn dda. Hefyd rydym yn awgrymu yn gryf y dylai rhieni wisgo mwgwd wrth ddod a’u plant i’r clwb.
Bydd Clwb Carco yn dechrau dydd Iau. Bydd Menter Iaith yn cysylltu yn uniongyrchol gyda rhieni i rannu manylion am eu trefniadau.
Ar ddiwedd y dydd byddwn yn dod a’r disgyblion lan at y Neuadd Gymuned i gwrdd a’u rhieni. Bydd y Meithrin yn dod am 3 20 ac yna pob dosbarth yn dilyn yn eu tro. Gofynwn i rieni gamu ymlaen pan welan nhw eu plant os gwelwch yn dda.
Yr hyn fydd yn newid fydd trefniadau pan fo achos positif;
Os oes un achos positif mewn dosbarth mi fyddwn yn danfon llythyr at rieni yn eu rhybuddio o hyn.
Os oes mwy nag un achos mewn dosbarth yna bydd llythyr yn cael ei ddanfon yn awgrymu yn gryf i rieni y dylai eu plant brofi gyda prawf LFD yn ddyddiol.
Noder, dylai unrhyw ddisgybl sydd yn dangos symtpomau o Covid-19 fynd am brawf PCR a hunan ynysu tan y cant y canlyniad.
Bydd athrawon yn darparu gwaith ar gyfer disgyblion sydd yn hunan-ynysu. Cwblhewch y gwaith a’i ddycwhelyd pann fo’ch plentyn yn dod nol i’r ysgol os gwelwch yn dda.
----------
Happy New Year,
I hope you all had a restful and fun-packed holiday with your friends and families.
The first two days of term are now planning days with all children returning to Ysgol Bryn Onnen on Thursday the 6th of January. Due to the expectation that the Omicron variant will lead to high numbers of cases in January, Welsh Government have asked schools to plan based on a “Very High Alert Level” for the beginning of term. For most pupils that will mean a similar situation to when they were in school in February and March last year.
Schools will return to the system of using bubbles to reduce mixing between groups. At the moment all of our staff are healthy and none have Covid-19 symptoms so all pupils will start the term with staff they are familiar with. However during the coming weeks it is highly likely that some members of staff and pupils will need to self-isolate so some flexibility will be needed. Hopefully, working this way, we will be able to keep all classes open for the whole term.
We will be staggering lunch times to reduce the number of pupils in the canteen at one time – it isn’t possible to give every class separate slots in the canteen as we can’t fit seven sittings into the timetable. We will divide the hall with at least 2m between each year group and use a one way system for moving around the room.
Breakfast Club will continue every morning. Please bring your children to the canteen door. We would be very grateful if parents wear masks when doing this. Similar to last year, each class will have their own table so that pupils from different bubbles don’t mix before starting school.
Clwb Carco will start on Thursday. Menter Iaith will communicate any changes in their operations directly with parents.
Transport will operate as it did before Christmas. Pupils will be collected/dropped off at the same time and from the same stops as usual.
At the end of the day we will bring children up to the Community Centre to be collected by parents. Meithrin will come first at 3 20, followed by Reception, Year 1 and so forth. Please come forward to collect you children when they come up as it is sometimes difficult for staff to see all parents when in a crowd.
We ask kindly that parents wear masks when collecting their children. This isn’t compulsory but we appreciate parents’ support on this and every little thing we do will help to keep the school open and all of us safe.
What will be new this year is what happens if a positive case is detected in school;
Where there is one positive case in a class a letter will be sent to parents/carers to inform them of this and asking that they keep an eye out for symptoms.
If there are two or more cases in a class parents will be sent a letter and strongly advised to test their children daily for seven days using LFDs. We are expecting a stock of LFDs to be delivered to school for this purpose. We understand that for some pupils e.g. those that are very young or some with Additional Educational Needs that taking these tests won’t be possible.
Children under five are not required to self-isolate or test if they are contacts of a positive case.
Please remember all pupils who have symptoms of Covid-19 should seek a PCR test and isolate until they have the result.
Teachers will provide work for all pupils who are isolating. The type of work will vary depending on the children’s age and ability. Please make every effort to complete the work and return the work to school when your child’s isolation period ends. If your child is ill then they may not be able to complete all/any of the work.
Yours sincerely
Rhys ap Gwyn
