Annwyl Riant / Warcheidwad,
Yn y cylchlythyr hwn hoffwn ddiolch i rieni, am eu cefniogaeth yn ystod y tymor ac yn enwedig rhieni blwyddyn 4 a fu yn dysgu o adref am gyfnod.
Mae hi wedi bod yn dymor anodd arall; ond unwaith yn rhagor rydym wedi tynnu at ein gilydd. Dyma rai enghreifftiau o sut mae disgyblion a staff wedi mynd y ty hwnt i‘r disgwyl er mwyn cynnal yr ysgol.
- Mae disgyblion wedi ymateb yn bositif i gael eu dysgu gan athrawon amrywiol.
- Mae cynorthwywyr wedi dysgu dosbarthiadau ar eu pennau eu hunain heb unrhyw wobr am y gwaith a chyfrifoldeb ychwanegol.
- Mae athrawon oedd yn dioddef o effeithiau Covid-19 wedi dal ati i ddarparu gwaith ar-lein.
- Mae athrawon Cyfnod Sylfaen wedi camu y tu allan i’w profiad gan ddysgu rhai o ddisgyblion hyn yr ysgol.
- Mae athrawon a chynorthwywyr wedi gweithio heb egwyl a weithiau heb amser cinio.
- Mae cynorthwydd dosbarth wedi cymryd nifer o sesiynau addysg gorfforol i fy rhyddhau i o’r dosbarth i fynychu cyfarfodydd.
- Mae un o’n staff amser cinio wedi camu fyny i roi cefnogaeth dros dro yn y syddfa.
- Mae rhiant a oedd yn fenyw ginio wrth gefn wedi ymuno a’r tim yn llawn amser.
- Rydym wedi dyd-weithio gyda Ysgol Panteg ac Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran i rannu dau aelod o staff er mwyn hwyluso problemau staffio.
- Cafodd Blwyddyn 6 athrawon gwahanol pob dydd am wythnos. Doeddent ddim wedi cwyno unwaith nac wedi gadael i safon eu gwaith ddisgyn a mwynhaodd pob un athro ac athrawes eu cwmni.
- Ac mi ddywedodd un disgybl wrtha i y gallai orffen ei ginio ar ben ei hunan un dydd Gwener fel y gallwn i ddychwelyd i’r dosbarth yn gynnar.
Wythnos gyntaf ar ol y gwyliau
Mawrth 1af – Dydd Gwyl Dewi. Gall disgyblion wisgo gwisg Gymreig
Mawrth 3ydd – Diwrnod y Llyfr. Gall disgyblion wisgo fel eu hoff gymeriad o lyfr.
Mawrth 4ydd – Eisteddfod yr ysgol. Dylid gwisgo gwisg ysgol.

Dear Parent / Guardian,
I would like to use this newsletter to thank parents for their support during this half-term and in particular the parents of pupils in Year 4 who had their education disrupted more than most during the term. It has been difficult again; but as a community, everyone at Ysgol Bryn Onnen have pulled together when needed. Here are some examples of how we have worked together to pull through this term:
- Children have accepted and embraced having a variety of staff teaching them during the term.
- Teaching assistants have taught classes single-handedly without any extra reward for the added work and responsibility asked of them. – N.B. Teaching Assistants are only paid 43 weeks per year and there is no way to reward them financially for this.
- Teachers unwell due to Covid-19 have continued to provide work for their classes.
- Foundation Phase teachers have stepped completely out of their comfort zone and taught the older pupils at the school.
- Teachers and teaching assistants who have gone without breaks and some lunch breaks.
- A teaching assistant has taken countless PE sessions to release staff for short breaks and to enable me to attend meetings.
- A midday supervisor has stepped up to offer support in the school office.
- A parent who worked as relief midday supervisor has become a permanent member of staff.
- Ysgol Panteg and Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran have co-operated with us to deploy two members of staff, shared between the three schools.
- The EAS provided us with a teacher who enabled us to stay fully open one day.
- Year 6 had different staff teaching them every day for a week. They didn’t complain once or allow the standard of their work to drop and each and every teacher thoroughly enjoyed being in class with them.
- And, best of all, a pupil I often eat lunch with told me one Friday they could finish dinner on their own that day so I could go back to class.
A huge thank you to all involved in the effort to keep the school open and fully open for as long as possible over the last 6 weeks. Hopefully we can all look forward to a more normal school day after half-term.
