Dysgu i fod yn awduron
AMe disgyblion blwyddyn 4 wedi bod yn cydweithio gyda Tom Maloney i greu llyfr wedi ei selio ar chwedl Garn-Clochdy. Maent wedi cydweithio gyda disgyblion o ysgolion Garnteg, Blaenafon a Chwmffrwdoer. Dyma ragflas o’u straeon.
One cold frosty morning, a young boy called Onnen was playing in the woods. He had brown, short hair and sparkling, blue eyes like the cold morning sky. He wore a cosy, red jumper, jeans and bright, yellow gloves like the sun to keep his little hands warm from the frost. Onnen was a kind, happy and helpful young boy who liked going off for adventures in the woods by his house in Varteg.

Dear Parent / Guardian,
Traffic around the school
There has been an improvement in traffic problems at picking up time over the last 10 days. Please work with us to ensure all pupils are able to come in to school and leave safely especially as the weather and light deteriorates. Thank you to all parents for their co-operation.
Learning to be authors
Year 4 have been inspired to write their own stories based on the legend of Garn Clochdy. They have worked with local artist Tom Maloney and pupils from Garnteg, Cwmffrwdoer and Blaenavon schools. Soon they will be publishing their stories. Here is a sneak preview;

Helping with Welsh at home
During lockdown and periods of self-isolation a number of parents have reported that it was difficult to support their children with learning through the medium of Welsh. The EAS who are responsible for standards in education across South East Wales have prepared some information to support parents;

Christmas raffle – The PTA will be running their raffle a little differently this year, please read this message from them
It’s Christmas Raffle time! As there are no Christmas shows this year we have decided to put together bigger prizes for everyone to have a chance of winning.
The first raffle has 3 hamper prizes available to help you get your festivities started. Due to the current restrictions and gambling regulations we have set up a way to purchase tickets for the raffle online at:

2020 is not a year any of us expected when we celebrated on 1st January. One area of "normal" life that has suffered is children's education.
At Ysgol Bryn Onnen all children finally returned full time in September 2020, albeit with restrictions and changes. Ysgol Bryn Onnen is a Welsh primary school with it's children at the heart of the school.
The PTA fund additional educational visits, IT equipment, help fund trips, and even visits from Father Christmas, so the children can experience a variety of wonderful activities.
One of the big differences due to the Coronavirus is the PTA are not able to run the regular events where we raise the much needed funds to pay for the additional activities. No firework display, no school movies nights, no Christmas fayre, no Christmas concerts.
We are pleading with you to help us help Ysgol Bryn Onnen children by buying raffle tickets for our Early Christmas Hamper. You could save the hamper for Christmas or enjoy early...after all it's not a "normal" year.
Mwynhewch y penwythnos.
Enjoy the weekend!
Yr eiddoch yn gywir / Yours sincerely,
Mr. Rh ap Gwyn
Pennaeth / Headteacher
