Annwyl Riant / Warcheidwad,
Dychwelyd i’r ysgol yn Chwefror
Yr wythnos diwethaf cyhoeddodd Llywodraeth Cymru gynlluniau i ddychwleyd rhai lant i’r ysgol. O’r 22ain o Chwefror bydd trefniadau yn wahanol ar gyfer gwahanol grwpiau o ddysgwyr.
Cyfnod Sylfaen
Bydd y Cyfnod Sylfaen yn dechrau llawn amser ar ddydd Llun, Chwefror, 22ain. Bydd y plant yn eu dosbarth arferol a gyda eu hathrawon arferol.
Am y bythefnos gynatf ni fydd y ffreutyr ar agor a bydd angen brechdanau ar bob plentyn. Byddwn yn adolygu hyn erbyn Mawrth 8ed.
Dylai disgyblion wisgo wu gwisg ysgol. Bydd ychydig o hyblygrwydd dros y dyddiau cyntaf os yw plant wedi tyfu allan o’u gwisg. Mae stoc o ddillad ail-law gennym yn yr ysgol os yw unrhyw deuluoedd yn ei chael yn anodd i ganfod gwisg ysgol newydd.
Cyfnod Allweddol 2
Bydd disgyblion Cyfnod Allweddol 2 yn parhau i ddysgu ar-lein. Bydd athrawon yn darparu gwaith ar eu cyfer fel sydd wedi digwydd ers ddechrau Ionawr.
Hwb i blant gweithwyr allweddol
Gall plant sydd a rhieni yn weithwyr allweddol ddod i wein hwb. Dim ond un rhiant sydd yn gorfod bod yn weithhiwr allweddol ond disgwylir fod y ddau riant (os yw rhieni yn byw gyda’i gilydd) yn gweithio. Dylai plant ond fynychu yr hwb pan mae eu rhiant yn gweithio. Er enghraifft os yw rhieni yn gweithio dridiau yr wythnos dim ond ar y tridiau hynny y dylai eu plant ddod i’r ysgol.
Mae cyfyngiad ar y nifer o lefydd yn yr hwb a does dim sicrwydd o le yn yr hwb.
Rhaid i bawb ddefnyddio yr hwb yn gyfrifol – dydyn ni ddim eisiau u blentyn sydd a rhiant yn gweithio fel nyrs yn colli lle i blentyn lle gall rhieni weithio o adref.
Wrth agor ysgolion i’r Cyfnod Sylfaen dydy Llywodraeth Cymru ddim yn dweud fod ysgolion yn ddiogel i bawb. Beth ament yn ei ddweud yw ei bod hi yn ddiogel i agor os ydyn ni yn cyfyngu ar niferoedd.
Bydd disgyblion sydd yn mynychu yr hwb yn derbyn yr un tasgau a phlant sydd yn dysgu ar-lein. Ni fyddant yn eu dosbarthiadau arferol. Byddant mewn dosbarthiadau cymysg ac yn cael eu cefnogi gan gynorthwywyr.
Bydd dau ddosbarth hwb. Un i flynyddoedd 3 a 4 ac un i flynyddoedd 5 a 6.
Hyd at yr 8ed o Fawrth bydd angen i blant ddod a brechdanau. Byddwn yn adolygu hyn erbyn yr 8ed.
Os hoffech drafod lle yn yr hwb i’ch plentyn cysylltwch trwy ebost. Byddaf yn gallu ymateb i rhain trwy’r gwyliau.

Trafnidiaeth Ysgol
Os nad ydyych wedi archebu lle ar drafnidiaeth ysgol gwnewch hynny cyn gynted a bo mod dos gwelwch yn dda.
Trefniadau diogelwch
Mae’r ysgol wedi bod yn gweithredu systemau i leihau bugythiad Covid-19 ers mis Mehefin llynedd.
Byddwn yn parhau i;
Cadw plant mewn swigod
Amrywio amser dechrau a gorffen pob blwyddyn
Amseroedd chwarae a cinio gwahanol i bod swigen.
Golchi dwylo rheolaidd trwy gydol y dydd.
Glanhau ychwanegol yn ystod y dydd.
Dim rhannu admoddau rhwng swigod.
Byddwn hefyd yn;
(Staff yn) Gwisgo mygydau o gwmpas yr ysgol gan gynnwys yn y dosbarth.
Profi staff am coronavirus ddwywaith yr wythnos.
Bwyta cinio y nein dosbarthiadau i leihau symudiad o gwmpas safle yr ysgol.
Plant a symptomau Covid-19
Os yw eich plentyn yn arddangos symptomau Covid-19;
Peidiwch a’u danfon i’r ysgol
Bwciwch brawf
Hunan-ynyswch tray n aros am y canlyniad
Hysbyswch yr ysgol o ganlyniad y prawf
Cyrraedd a gadael yr ysgol
Pan yn gollwng a casglu eich plant gofynnwn i rieni wisgo mwgwd a chadw pellter cymdeithasol. Wedi casglu eichplant dylech adael y safle a mynd adref yn unol a rheolau y cyfnod clo. Peidiwch ymgasglu a chymdeithasu wrth gat yr ysgol.
Dear Parent / Guardian,
Phased return to school
Last week Welsh Government announced that pupils will start a phased return to primary schools after half-term. This means that for the next few weeks arrangements will be different for groups of children.
Foundation Phase
The Foundation Phase will be back in school full time starting on Monday, February 22nd. The children will be in their usual classes and taught by their usual teachers.
For at least the first two weeks (up to March 8th) the canteen will remain closed and pupils will need to bring a packed lunch. To reduce movement around the school pupils will eat their packed lunches in class.
Pupils should wear school uniform. We will have some flexibility in the first weeks where pupils have grown out of uniform and families are finding it difficult to find replacement clothing.
If any parents are struggling to find supplies of school uniform due to the pandemic we have a large amount of good quality second hand clothing that we are happy to give to families for free – please contact the school for details.
Key stage 2
Key Stage 2 pupils will continue to learn online. Teachers will provide online learning just as they are now. It is very important Key stage 2 pupils continue with this online work at the moment there is no date being suggested for when our older pupils will start returning to school.
Key worker hub
Children whose parents/guardians are key workers can access our hub provision. Only one parent/guardian needs to be a key worker for children to attend the hub but both parents/guardians must be at work – (clearly this doesn’t apply for single parent families) . Key workers should only use the hub when they are at work. For example if a key worker works three days per week then their child should only attend the hub on those three days.
Places at the hub are limited and there is no guarantee of a place for your child. Please use the hub responsibly – we don’t want critical workers such as NHS staff unable to access hub places due to them being taken by families who could keep their children at home.
In opening school for Foundation Phase Welsh Government are not saying that school is safe for all. What they are saying is that schools can open safely if we limit the number of pupils attending.
Pupils attending the hub will be provided with the same work to complete as those who are learning online. They will be supported by teaching assistants not their usual class teacher. We will have two hub classes – one for Years 3 and 4 and one for Years 5 and 6.
For at least the first two weeks (up to March 8th) pupils will need to bring a packed lunch. Hub pupils should wear school uniform after half-term.
If you would like to request a place at the hub please contact me by email- I will still pick up and respond to these during the half-term holiday.

School Transport
If you haven’t already completed the Schoop form for home to school transport please do so as soon as possible. Buses will run from the same stops and to the same timetable as in December. Buses may be replaced by smaller vehicles if demand is low.
Additional safety measures
Welsh Government guidance states that most measures needed to reduce the transmission of coronavirus are already in place at schools.
We will continue to;
Keep the pupils in bubbles and not mix pupils/staff between bubbles.
Stagger the start and the end of the school day (timetable as it was in September-December).
Have separate break times and lunch times for each bubble.
Wash/sanitise hands regularly during the school day.
Cleaning of touch points during the day.
Regular “fogging” of classrooms during the week.
Prevent sharing of equipment between bubbles.
In addition;
Staff will wear facemasks in corridors and in classrooms when social distancing isn’t possible. Please discuss this with your children so that they are prepared for this.
Staff will be tested twice a week for coronavirus.
Pupils will eat lunch in class to reduce movement around the school site.
Pupils showing symptoms
For everybody’s safety it is important families follow government protocols if a child shows symptoms of Covid -19;
Do not send your child to school.
Book a test.
Self-isolate at home until you receive your test result – siblings need to self-isolate too.
Inform the school immediately if your child has symptoms and inform us of the outcome of the test.
Pick up and drop off times
The area where we hand children over to parents and guardians is quite small. Each class will come up in order; Nursery (11 45 am) (3 00 pm), Reception (3 05), Year 1 ( 3 10) , Year 2 (3 15)
We ask that parents wear facemasks when dropping off and collecting children and follow national social distancing rules. We also ask that parents leave as soon as possible after collecting their children and not to congregate and socialise at the school pick-up point. This might sound strange as the children have been in school all day but lockdown restrictions remain in place outside the school gate.
Rising 3s (Pupils who should have started Nursery in January)
We look forward to welcoming our new Nursery pupils on February 22nd. Staff will meet pupils outside Varteg Community Centre at 1 00. If you haven’t been able to buy school uniform, please send your child to school in comfortable and practical clothing for the short term until shopping for these items becomes easier.
N.B. WE WILL HAVE AN ONLINE ASSEMBLY TO GIVE OUT CERTIFICATES ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY15th.
Mwynhewch y gwyliau.
Enjoy the half-term break!
Yr eiddoch yn gywir / Yours sincerely,
Mr. Rh ap Gwyn
Pennaeth / Headteacher
